Finger Lakes Scuba

Decades of experience have taught us that there are four requirements to successful diving: proper knowledge, proper skills, proper equipment and experience.

Proper Knowledge

There are certain safety rules that must be learned. With a professional teaching system (a manual, DVD, and study guide) you can study this information on your own. An instructor will be available for assistance.

Proper Skills

You must develop ability with basic scuba skills, such as moving in the water and equipment handling. The best way to learn is from a qualified instructor at a professional scuba school. Review and practice time reinforces the skills.

Proper Equipment

The most comfortable, convenient and enjoyable way to dive is with your own set of properly fitted equipment. As you become familiar with your equipment, your ability level increases. Servicing your equipment annually improves your equipment's performance, and minimizes malfunctions, which provides peace of mind.

While education helps develop knowledge and skills, the key to becoming a comfortable and confident diver is simply to dive as much as possible. Your experience increases as you explore different diving locations, meet new friends, have new adventures and explore new worlds.

With all the professional training programs out there, why should you choose to become an SSI or SDI/TDI/ERDI Diver?

Quality Dealers.

SSI & SDI/TDI/ERDI Authorized Dealers are carefully selected to meet our high standards. They only work with full-service, reputable retailers and resorts that run a professional scuba school, sell and service equipment, and offer additional services to meet all your diving needs.

Quality Instructors.

SSI & SDI/TDI/ERDI are the only agencies that require instructors to affiliate with a full-service Authorized Dealer. Instructors are monitored on-site for adherence to the International Training Standards, professional conduct and performance, to ensure your course is taught right.

SSI & SDI/TDI/ERDI the Leaders in Home Study Training.

Home study is the hottest thing in dive training because it allows you to spend more time in the water developing ability and comfort. In 1990 SSI pioneered this technique, and we're still the leader today.

Comfort Through Repetition.

SSI & SDI/TDI/ERDI Instructors use our highly effective water training method called Comfort Through Repetition. Scuba skills become second nature, so you can relax and enjoy yourself when you go diving.

World - Wide Respect and Recognition.

SSI & SDI/TDI/ERDI divers are respected all over the world because of their reputation for training excellent divers. With Authorized Dealers in countries throughout the world, your SSI or SDI/TDI/ERDI certification card will be welcomed anywhere you want to dive.
